Pittsburgh PA Attractions

Once known as the Steel City, sometimes even the “Smoky City,” Pittsburgh is now a vibrant, flourishing metropolis that’s routinely rated among the most livable cities in the United States. It’s a place that’s firmly established as a leading center of health care, biomedical research and development, robotics, finance and, yes, even tourism.
Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium spread over 70 acres; the natural habitats of some 6000 animals are represented in the Asian Forest, African Savanna, Cheetah Valley, and Tropical Forest. National Aviary; More than 600 birds from all over the world are exhibited in their natural habitats at the country’s only bird facility independent of a larger zoo. Residents include flamingos, penguins, macaws, hummingbirds, and owls.

Nationality Rooms at the Cathedral of Learning is housed in the University of Pittsburgh’s Cathedral of Learning. Twenty six rooms showcase furnishings and artifacts that represent the cultural backgrounds of various ethnic groups. The striking Gothic-style cathedral, composed of a steel frame concealed by walls made of Indiana limestone, stands 535 feet (42 stories) tall.
Mt. Washington observation tower and lookout points offer great views of Point Park, the three rivers and the surrounding communities.
Carnegie Science Center with over 250 interactive exhibits include a planetarium, miniature railroad exhibit, Omnimax Theater, the USS Requin (WWII sub), and a health-science center.
Carnegie Museum of Art showcase works by artists such as Degas, Van Gogh, Durer, Cassatt and Hopper. M.
